Canada Named Top Positive Global Leader for 10th Year Straight | Ipsos 2025 Study (2026)

Canada tops the global charts as the world's most positive influence—again. But here's where it gets interesting: while much of the world seems to be struggling to maintain a trustworthy international image, one country appears to be quietly excelling at global diplomacy and public perception.

A fresh Ipsos study (link) reveals that Canada continues to hold onto its reputation as the most positively viewed leader on the world stage. Out of more than 23,000 respondents surveyed across 30 countries, an impressive 80% believe Canada plays a beneficial role in shaping global affairs. This isn’t a one-time fluke either—it marks the tenth consecutive year that Canada has earned the top spot.

Close contenders in this year’s rankings include Germany, receiving 73%, and France with 70%. Both countries have long been associated with stability and diplomacy, but none have managed to dethrone Canada’s standing as the world’s go-to “good influence.”

On the opposite end of the spectrum, countries like Iran and Israel were viewed far less favorably, with only 25% of respondents perceiving them as positive players on the global stage. This contrast underscores the sharp divide in global perceptions of leadership and ethics in international relations.

The report also pointed out a notable shift when it comes to the United States. Only 48% of respondents now say the U.S. is likely to have a positive influence—a steep drop from last year’s 60%. What’s driving this decline? Could it be changing foreign policies, political polarization, or the world’s shifting expectations of American leadership?

So, what makes Canada such a reliable favorite in global influence? Is it its reputation for diplomacy, multiculturalism, or environmental advocacy—or is it simply that Canada manages to stay out of major controversies others can’t avoid? And with global politics growing more unpredictable, how long can this streak realistically last?

It’s a topic ripe for debate. Do you agree that Canada truly deserves to be seen as the world’s leading positive influence, or do you think this reputation is more about image than action? Let’s hear your take in the comments. For more global updates, check out the News section (link).
