Chilwell Tram & Bus CRASH: Passengers Injured, Services Disrupted! (2026)

A terrifying crash between a tram and a bus in Chilwell has left passengers injured and disrupted travel plans. This incident, reported by Nottingham Express Transit (NET) on February 19th, occurred at the Inham Road tram stop, leaving a Hucknall-bound tram derailed and an Orange 36 bus severely damaged. But here's where it gets controversial: is this an isolated incident or part of a larger trend?

The crash scene reveals the tram's left side and front extensively damaged, while the bus's front is completely wrecked. Thankfully, all passengers are safe, with firefighters from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire attending to those with minor injuries. The road is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day, causing significant travel delays.

NET has suspended services between Toton Lane and Bramcote Lane, and NCT's Orange 36 service is also experiencing severe delays. Passengers are advised to plan for extra travel time. And this is the part most people miss: this incident follows a concerning rise in tram-related collisions.

In December, NET reported a 19% increase in crashes involving trams and motorists in 2025 compared to 2025. The operator also noted 205 instances of tram emergency brake activations to avoid collisions with drivers running red lights. These incidents led to an emergency timetable implementation in June.

What do you think? Are these incidents isolated or indicative of a broader issue? Share your thoughts in the comments below, but remember to keep the discussion respectful and constructive.
