A massive road hazard has caused chaos and left many drivers in a bind. The Princes Highway at Nar Nar Goon witnessed a giant pothole that wreaked havoc on over 20 vehicles, leaving a trail of damaged cars and a challenging situation for those involved.

This is exactly what happened to a Pakenham woman and her family. Bronwyn Drummond, with her three children in the car, experienced a terrifying moment when they heard a loud bang, instantly knowing they had to pull over.
"It was chaotic, with cars everywhere, and the risk of further accidents was high due to the poor visibility," Bronwyn shared. "We blew two tires, and the car in front of us had a similar fate. It was a scary situation."
The aftermath left Bronwyn and her family facing a significant financial burden. "Our family car is now in need of extensive repairs, and we're looking at thousands of dollars in costs. We're already struggling with bills, and this unexpected expense is a real challenge."
But here's where it gets controversial... The opposition party, the Victorian National Party, believes that the issue goes beyond just this one pothole. Danny O'Brien, the Shadow Roads Minister, claims that road maintenance, specifically resurfacing and resealing works, has been neglected during summer periods. "It's not just about this pothole appearing suddenly; it's about the lack of preventative measures," O'Brien stated. "We've had summers where no resealing programs were conducted, which is the crucial step to keep water from penetrating the road surface and forming these dangerous potholes."
And this is the part most people miss... The impact of this issue extends beyond the immediate damage to vehicles. Michelle Snape, another victim of the pothole, highlighted the potential danger to emergency services vehicles and motorbikes. "Ambulances and passenger transport vehicles are at risk too. If a motorbike went through that pothole, it could have been catastrophic."
