A body found in bushland triggers a murder investigation

Authorities have opened a homicide inquiry after a man’s body was discovered along a gravel path in the bushland area north of Perth.

Emergency crews were alerted to a spot near Grampians Loop in Yanchep, roughly 53km north of Perth, where the man was found unresponsive around 6:40pm on Sunday.

Both police and St John WA responded to the scene and confirmed the man, aged 27, had died at the location.

Initial reports indicate head injuries, and investigators from the homicide squad are examining the case.

“A full review of the circumstances surrounding the man’s death is underway,” a Western Australia Police spokesperson stated.

Residents told 9News they heard voices around 6pm and noted a strong police presence in the area.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage from the vicinity, to contact Crime Stoppers.
